For their feature „Das Vorspiel“ journalist Carolin Pirich and OSTKREUZ photographer Tobias Kruse have been awarded the Hansel-Mieth-Preis 2012. The award is given annually for ambitious text and image reports in German print media.

Between Hoenow and Alexanderplatz, on the Berlin underground line U5 a new train type is being tested. It has enlarged screens on which pictures by Harald Hauswald are shown hourly until the end of the month. The images give a preview of the paperback edition of Harald's book on Alexanderplatz which will be published this spring at the Jaron Verlag.

Julian Roeder's feature "Weapons for Arabia" is shortlisted for the Henri Nannen Preis 2012, the most important media award in Germany.

For the first anniversary of Sibylle Bergemann's death, the documentary "Take a picture" will be shown at the Babylon cinema in Berlin. The director Sabine Michel filmed Sibylle during her last days.

FOTODOKS 2011 is opening its doors for the fourth time. This year's edition of the festival deals with the tension between credibility and sensationalism in documentary photography.
Two OSTKREUZ members are among the 16 photographers that have been selected for the festival exhibition "UNGLAUBLICH – INCREDIBILE". Heinrich Voelkel exhibits his series "The Terrible City - Gaza 2009", Julian Roeder shows "World of Warfare", pictures of the arms fair in Abu Dhabi.
